In the spirit of our commitment to more sustainable practices, Blackbough Swim is proud to introduce our latest partnership with Retaso, a dynamic social and environmental enterprise founded in the Philippines. Led by a group of young women entrepreneurs, Retaso weaves material waste into regenerative design solutions. Each product is constructed using scrap fabric donated by local businesses, refined and handcrafted by skilled seamstresses in the Philippines. Since August 2023, Blackbough Swim has donated plastic waste to Retaso and we have decided to make it official this year by becoming a formal plastic waste upcycling donor! This commitment extends beyond our corporate values, trickling down to the dedicated individuals who form the backbone of Blackbough. Our entire team is actively involved in this recycling initiative, encouraged to be mindful of single-use plastics, and pooling our personal plastic waste to ensure less of it pollutes our oceans and harms wildlife. Through initiatives like these, we are able to pursue more sustainable business practices, emphasizing not only waste reduction but also the transformative potential of collective action.Retaso's unique philosophy revolves around being 100% local and 100% circular. This mirrors our own commitment to supporting local communities and reducing our ecological footprint. Last September 10th 2023, we took our dedication to the next level as we embarked on a coastal cleanup at Malinao Beach, Siargao, Philippines.

10% of net profits from the Coastal Cleanup collection will go towards Project CURMA, a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to safeguarding sea turtles and their habitats, until April 30. That means that for every 2 sets of bikinis from this Earth Day 2024 collection will go towards 1 day of care and rehabilitation for an average of 60-70 sea turtles on the shores of La Union, Philippines.
